’Homegrown’ 2025
A local artist from Point Lonsdale who grew up in the nearby town of Ocean Grove, Amy has always been captivated by the natural beauty of her surroundings. Growing up by the coast, she developed a deep understanding and appreciation for the landscapes that shape her world. Homegrown represents an exciting new chapter for Amy as she steps outside her usual style and takes on the challenge of exploring new horizons.
The title of the exhibition, Homegrown, carries a triple significance. First, it reflects Amy’s personal connection to the region, having grown up here. Second, it alludes to the native flora featured in many of her works, plants that are indigenous to the area she knows so well. Finally, it ties to Lon’s commitment to growing their own produce and cultivating beautiful gardens on-site, further connecting the exhibition to its local roots.
For this collection, Amy has pared back her signature bright, pink-infused palette in favour of more natural, muted tones. While her palette remains grounded in earthy hues, she’s still infused her work with subtle bursts of colour, a trademark of her creative style. The project also marked an opportunity for Amy to push her boundaries and step out of her comfort zone, experimenting with texture, composition, and form.
Through this body of work, Amy wanted to capture the calm and peaceful atmosphere of the region she’s lucky to call home. With each piece, she invites viewers to experience the sense of serenity and nostalgia she feels in these landscapes. Amy believes that art has the power to evoke personal connections, and hopes her work will spark memories and a sense of joy for those who engage with it.
She is deeply grateful to Lon for celebrating the local environment through their wonderful business, and also for recognising the value of local art and for providing a space where artists can share their work. Amy hopes this collection will inspire others to appreciate this little slice of paradise and perhaps even take a piece of it home.
